Or so the rival you’re going to get six more quarts out of the Hamilton Beach now what I found both of mine I bought my rival one year and then the following year I loved it so much the following year after Hamilton Beach and I’ve decided to purchase it so I’m going to show you the differences there’s not a whole lot of differences between the two except one to me is a little bit more quality and the Hamilton Beach is the stainless steel so the difference between the two is not many and the rival it has the inside removable rack and the Hamilton Beach also has the removable barracks.
The difference between the two removable racks just so I can get those out of the way we’ll cover that really quick this removable rack the legs fold under and you cannot store it inside however it doesn’t raise up off of the bottom it’s pretty much flush you may have a half of an inch from the bottom of your container so or the insert that’s in there so if you wanted something to raise up more you’re not gonna get it with the rival also this one sits just down on the bottom where is the Hamilton Beach it’s if you can see the arms here they’re bowed out just a little bit which allows them to hang from the side of each wall so it is elevated up off of the bottom of the roaster by probably an inch and a half I prefer that and the good thing about this one which I have used before for this purpose.
Is if you’re canning you can actually take this rack now you can put your jars in here and keep them warm I’ll do that quite a bit according to what I’m canning but with this one you can lay the jars sad waste on both of them and then you can lift the rack up however with this one it doesn’t it’s zipping down flush and it’s a little bit more difficult wear it with this one because of the way it bows down on the sides it hangs off of the sides and it makes it very convenient just get the handles the jars are elevated off of the bottom so the jars themselves are getting to me you’re getting more of that water circulation going around you to drop your jars to heat them.
Up so I prefer this one it’s easier to work with okay the both of them mean the Drakon this one both of them have a removable pan on the inside I believe rival also makes one that does not have a removable pan you want to make sure that you have one with the removable pan so you can put it in the sink and wash it otherwise you’re kind of tilting this sideways over the sink trying to get it clean not only do you take a chance of getting the bottom wet it’s a little bit difficult to clean if you can’t submerge it in the water and get on the sides really good so that’s a big benefit to having this removable pan and you’re not gonna pay that much more to have the removable pin.
Sometimes two or three dollars okay the Hamilton Beach is the same way but the difference between this pan and this one is definitely in the field you can feel the quality more so in the Hamilton Beach it’s heavier it’s thicker it’s more sturdy there is nothing wrong with this one it’s just this one is a little bit better quality the Hamilton Beach so you know depending on what you want to spin I want to tell you I paid $20 for this one I’d be twenty-five for this one five dollars more normally when you see these hit the market it’s going to be bright before Thanksgiving usually anywhere from four to eight weeks before Thanksgiving so we’re coming up there before long.
You’re gonna start seeing the Christmas things come out because they’ll leave them out through the holidays so they can be used for Christmas gifts also but you see a lot of them come out Thanksgiving that will put them on sale and normally I believe you know they’ll advertise the arrival I believe it was $29.99 I got it on sale and I want to say it was 1999 when I got it on sale this one was $29.99 and I found it on sale for $24.99 now granted I bought the Hamilton Beach the week after Thanksgiving when the store had a lot more in supply so they marked him down an additional five dollars they were $29.99 went down to $19.99 I mean it got $24.99 and then they mark it off a little bit more so you know depending on if you get it the week before the holidays.
The week after the holidays if you want to wait you can usually find them cheaper just make sure that you get the inserts and them because some of them will look like they have the inserts and they don’t okay on both of them they have the temperature gauge you want to make sure that you do get a toaster oven that has the dial gauge the temperature gauge both of them go up to 450 degrees both of them you can cook in just like an oven now the difference is when you are cooking in an oven, of course, your heat is going to be usually or you hope.
That it’s more accurate whereas when you are baking in a toaster oven you may have to adjust the temperature up or down but usually when I cook during the holidays because I don’t just pan with these I do cam a lot with them especially tomato products that need to cook for a long time a couple of days sometimes when you’re cooking your sauce down but also baked in them you can bake a turkey you can bake casseroles and if the hot during the holidays if I’m gonna bake in them I usually choose something like a casserole that it doesn’t matter if the temperature is 25 degrees off higher or lower it doesn’t matter both of them have the little air vents on top they both get a pretty good deal, however, the Hamilton Beach is just a little bit more terrible because.
It’s a little bit better made so I think the heat in is in it is actually regulated a little better so I always choose it if I want to bake in it you can also and I have done this you can think bread in bread is usually something that you’re going to cook on high-temperature bread biscuits and I don’t have a problem getting them to brown on top I have also dehydrated them I have a dehydrator but there are times especially during the summer when your garden is really producing a lot or you’ve gone to the farmers market and you’re coming home with bushels of food and you know you just need that extra dehydrator I might have something dehydrating on my regular dehydrator but I might have a bunch of herbs that are coming out of the garden and I need to get the herbs dry it’s been really wet I don’t want them to go see don’t want to pick them beforehand you can dry in these if you can get your temperature on your oven your regular oven down to from 170.
Is normally the lowest setting that an oven will go for a lot of them but if you get it down to like 125 you can use it for dehydrator now I wouldn’t want to dehydrate peaches grapes tomatoes things of this nature that take a long time to dry but I have bit dried herbs I kept dry zest lemon zest orange zest lime zest things of this nature I’ve done it myself and them in my Hamilton Beach and the way you’re gonna do that is you can put your insert in you don’t have to use the insert but just put whatever you’re trying to draw on the tray and spit it in the bottom of it the lowest temperature that this goes in it says 150 degrees if you have a thermometer a meat thermometer anything that you cook with you can actually take a knife just like I do if I was using my oven.
I would put a knife in the oven door to wedge the door Oakland and that reduces it from 170 down to about 125 which is a perfect drying temperature for a lot of foods now with the herbs and things they’re only going to take sometimes maybe two hours zest two hours doesn’t take long at all sometimes it depends on the environment and humidity and things of that nature you can get things dry in an hour so you can actually wedge a knife in there just ever so slightly where it lifts it will actually reduce the temperature even more so you can use it as a dehydrator.
And like I said I wouldn’t use it for dehydrating food that takes hours upon hours and tomatoes that sometimes takes 16 hours but for small things makes a great dehydrator and you can pop this outside and use it outside and you know when you’re having a holiday and you’ve got a lot of people to come to your home to eat for Thanksgiving or for Christmas or any holiday which I’ve quite often done have during the holidays there’s a lot of people here I need the extra oven space this is great so either one you buy is going to be a great investment I would just say that if you could possibly find the Hamilton Beach the better quality I would get it but now I’ve also seen some.
Of these Roasters on Amazon and places like that that have been 49 $59 may be made by the different company say they’re going to do this they’re gonna do that I’ve never seen one even out of the really expensive ones that are any better than the Hamilton Beach so you know that’s just personal preference if you can’t find them anywhere else or if you like to shop off Amazon and you want to spend $59 for a roaster that’s your personal preference that’s your opinion if you can possibly find it at Target or some other store in your area around Thanksgiving which is coming up and that’s 10:1 they’re awesome products both of them are really good Hamilton Beach so guys I hope this helps I hope this video just kind of help you see the difference between the two the quality and give you some ideas and what you can really do with the roaster that you never thought.

How To Cook A Whole Chicken In A Roaster Oven?
Hey everybody welcomes back to keeping it real in the kitchen I’m Candace Cole today we’re making a roaster recipe that’s why you’re here I know how much you guys love them I have a few if you haven’t seen them check them out but today we’re cooking a whole chicken like a rotisserie chicken but it’s not gonna be rotisserie so it’s gonna be roaster raised we’re making it in the toaster oven it’s a pretty simple recipe I think you guys are gonna have no problem with it so let’s get to it what you’re gonna need well you’re gonna need a whole chicken I’ve got one mine’s only about four pounds you can cook a big chicken in here because I have cooked a big turkey in here.
It’s not gonna be a problem it’s just gonna take you a little longer you’re also going to need whatever you want to season it with you can make that a lemon pepper chicken you can stuff it with lemon inside you could put like I don’t know other things inside of that cavity if you’d like to go for it you can use salt and pepper that’s classic that’s what I’m doing I’m gonna spice mine up with just a little bit of garlic and also gonna be using some butter on there but like I said guys you could do a chili chicken you could do whatever you want simple recipe really easy to customize let’s get to it first thing we’re gonna do guys get our roaster oven preheated at 450 degrees with the rack inside my racks in there I’m gonna turn this on and get it heating up all right.
We’ve got that roaster oven preheating with the lid on I didn’t say that you’re gonna want to put the lid on that helps keep the heat all inside now we’re gonna open up our chicken we’re gonna Pat it dry with some paper towels make sure your chicken is thawed that’s very important this is not a recipe for a frozen chicken and we’re just gonna Pat it dry okay too much she’s dried when handling chicken you’re going to be washing your hands a lot cuz you’re gonna touch other things and then you don’t wanna get your chicken blood hands and precooked chicken germs on other things you can melt down your butter to give it a buttery bath and just baste it with it you can do chunks of butter put it inside the cavity under the wings wherever you like buttery baths buttery.
Baths everybody loves a chicken buttery bath that’s my piece at the top put some in your weightings girl washing our hands again I’m gonna try to only use one hand now that’s salt and pepper it’s I’m using kosher salt thicker generously season it there’s no reason not to be generous unless you don’t have a lot of salt or pepper and you’ve run out which does happen I posted me a lot and I’m like how I’ll be out of this again maybe we use too much I don’t know did not sneeze you can put whole cloves of garlic in here inside and its cavity you could chop it up mince it and put it on top my garlic is almost up I got to get it around there if you saw my video where I use this thing this is my first time using its squishing up.
Some garlic you can see in my review I will tag that video at the end of this one alright guy that chicken is seasoned and ready to go I do see a bald spot see that I do to need a little pepper there it’s time to place the chicken inside the toaster oven here we go putting it in boom good to go I’m gonna cover that up if you have one of these awesome thermometers this is a Taylor version you stick it in you leave it on the outside you’re gonna want to put this in chicken needs to cook to 165 degrees this is the best way to do it you don’t even need a timer this just tells you everything put it inside I should have done mine already I didn’t I said I should have done mine already because when you’re cooking in your roaster oven you don’t really want to open up that lid too much.
It takes a long time to get that not really a long time but you know it takes a little while to get that heat stored back up in that roaster and that’s what’s cooking it so we have it cooking at 450 degrees we’re gonna do that just for seven minutes that’s it this is going to help Chris that chicken so that’s where we’re at let’s let it cook seven minutes and then I’ll be back okay it’s been that seven minutes at that 450 degrees now we’re gonna lower it to 350 degrees let’s do that we lowered it to that 350 and now it’s gonna cook till it’s the internal temperature of 165 or about 15 minutes per pound so this is four-pound turkey I would multiply 4 by 15 that’s how many minutes it needs to cook for I preferred you at the temperature way it just seems to work a little better roaster ovens.
Seem to cook things a little faster than everything else it’s about 20 minutes per pound in the oven this can be 10 to 15 minutes per pound in a roaster sometimes even a little less that’s why that internal temperature is so important also once your chicken is done or you believe it to be done whether it’s cook time or temperature time make sure you cut it open make sure it’s not pink inside and make sure all the juices are running clear yet don’t want to see blood it’s not done very simple blood not done this chicken is smelling so good I know it’s that garlic in there and my thermometer said we are add to that 165 degree deliciousness let’s see the chicken first time together there it is it teamed up my camera and it smells so good in it sounds bit making noise we didn’t put any liquid in the bottom at all anything you see down there came from the chicken itself you saw everything I did if you would like to when you pull your chicken out you can let it rest for just about ten minutes loosely cover your chicken with some aluminum don’t make it tight on there I just I just had it placed.
On there give it about ten minutes to rest if you would like to that makes the juices and makes your chicken a little bit moister but man this chicken is moist a lovely crispy skin just right how I like it and just in time for lunch let’s try it I cooked mine just to the internal temperature I didn’t even time it I made sure that my juices were running clear before I pulled it out sometimes those timers can be a little tricky and they lie to you I want to get a little bit of skin because I want to taste the flavor of the garlic that I’ve been smelling here mmm oh that’s gonna so good.
